PSRC and the Region's Economic Development District Receive Clean Audit

SEATTLE—-In their first integrated audit since joining forces in 2003, the Puget Sound Regional Council and the region's Economic Development District passed their annual visit from the state auditors with flying colors. This was the first time that the region's Economic Development District has been audited by the State. Both PSRC and the EDD had clean audits with no findings.

Under the leadership of Seattle Councilmember Richard McIver and Pierce County Executive John Ladenburg, PSRC and the EDD accomplished several monumental tasks and events in 2004 without any budgeting problems or irregularities.

Highlights of 2004 include the launch of the Prosperity Partnership and the Regional Economic Summit held in November, the awarding of $325.5 million in PSRC funds to priority transportation projects in the region, moving forward on the issues identified during the initial public involvement process for the VISION 2020 Update, and the review and refinement of the region's long-range transportation plan, Destination 2030.

PSRC develops policies and coordinates decisions about regional growth and transportation planning in King, Pierce, Snohomish and Kitsap counties. The Council is composed of over 80 county, city, port, transit, tribal and state agencies serving the region.

The Economic Development District is the federally designated economic development district for the central Puget Sound region and receives federal funding for carrying out regional economic planning.

Title VI Notice: PSRC fully complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes and regulations in all programs and activities. For more information, or to obtain a Title VI Complaint Form, see http://www.psrc.org/about/titlevi/index.htm or call 206-464-6175.
