Economic Development Funding Opportunity

SEATTLE— The region's Economic Development District (EDD) is accepting applications for federal economic development funding. The goal is to better understand the region's economic development needs and to prioritize regional investments for submittal to the Economic Development Administration. In the past, the region has been able to secure up to $1 million annually from this program.

Applications are available from the Regional Council's Web site at psrc.org, by contacting the Information Center at 206-464-7532 or infoctr@psrc.org. Completed applications must be received by the EDD by noon on August 22, 2003.

Funding will only be available to public or non-profit entities and must be used for a public works facility or related infrastructure. Projects submitted must impact the local economy by leading to the creation, expansion or retention of permanent jobs in private business. The requested grant amount should be around $1 to $3 million and not account for more than 50 percent of the total project cost.

The Puget Sound Regional Council supports the work of the EDD through a merger that took effect in early 2003. The EDD is federally designated to carry out regional economic planning in King, Kitsap, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties.

PSRC fully complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statues and regulations in all programs and activities. For more information, or to obtain a Title VI Complaint Form, see http://www.psrc.org/about/titlevi/index.htm or call 206-464-6175.
