The region's long term transportation plan is officially known as the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). The MTP represents the efforts of government agencies serving King, Pierce, Snohomish and Kitsap counties to coordinate planning of transportation systems to support the region's anticipated growth and meet its economic and environmental goals through the year 2020. The current MTP was adopted in 1995 and amended in 1996. The update is scheduled for adoption in March 2001 and will describe the region's needs and its transportation strategies through the year 2030.
