PSRC Seeking Public Comment on Transportation Projects Recommended for Funding
SEATTLE — The Puget Sound Regional Council is seeking public comment on two sets of transportation projects recommended for funding.
The Transportation Policy Board has recommended six projects to receive $2 million in Rural Town Centers and Corridor Program Funds. The projects are:
- Snoqualmie’s Railroad Ave SE Improvements, $500,000
- Enumclaw’s SR-410 Corridor Channelization, $642,950
- Kingston’s SR-140 Sidewalk Project, $200,000
- Wilkeson’s Urban Town Center and Corridor Planning Project, $110,000
- Eatonville’s Washington Ave N Corridor Streetscape, $400,000
- Snohomish’s Lincoln Traffic Signal Design, $147,050
Two projects are recommended for the contingency list, in case additional funds become available:
- Snohomish County’s 180th St. SE Improvements, $500,000
- Kitsap County’s Manchester Shoulder Widening, $200,000
Additionally, public comment is being sought on projects recommended to receive $2.6 million in new or redistributed Federal Transit Administration funds. These projects are:
- Skagit Transit’s Purchase of Replacement Vehicles, $422,000
- Skagit Transit’s Implementation of its Mobility Management Program, $88,035
- King County Ferry District’s Purchase of a Hybrid-Electric Passenger Ferry, $2,000,000
- Kitsap Transit’s High Capacity Planning Integration Study of Kitsap County Land Use and Transit, $100,000

The public comment period runs from July 8 – September 23, 2010. Written comments received by September 2 will be included in the agenda packet for the Transportation Policy Board meeting on September 9, when it finalizes its recommendation to the Executive Board. Comments can be made in person at the Transportation Policy Board meeting, as well as the Executive Board meeting on September 23, when the funding is scheduled for final approval.
This public notice of public involvement activities and time established for public review and comments on the TIP development process will satisfy the FTA’s Program of Projects requirements.
PSRC develops policies and coordinates decisions about regional growth and transportation planning in King, Pierce, Snohomish and Kitsap counties. The Council is composed of over 80 county, city, port, transit, tribal and state agencies serving the region. It coordinates the distribution of about $160 million in Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration funds each year. PSRC sets priorities and evaluates the most efficient ways to target those funds to support state and local transportation and growth management plans.
