Puget Sound Regional Council

The 2006 survey built upon the 1999 household travel survey, and was designed to further development of a regional database of households and their travel behavior. The primary aim of the 2006 survey was to collect behavioral data from households to determine why they make the decisions they do regarding transportation options for the purpose of generating “choice” data. The survey data is intended to support development of a new regional Activity-Based Travel Model.

The Regional Council partnered with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Office of Transit Mobility to fund the survey, and to collect expanded data on transit usage compared to previous efforts. The survey of more than 4,700 households was conducted in spring 2006 and consisted of household and person demographics, a 2-day travel and activity diary, attitude questionnaires, and a stated preference/choice experiment survey.
