Travel Behavior of Baby Boomers report (PDF)
Puget Sound Transportation Panel Survey, 1989-2002
At its inception in 1989, The Puget Sound Transportation Panel was the first general-purpose travel panel survey conducted for an urban metropolitan area in the United States. Panel surveys are designed to collect information on a longitudinal basis over time, in contrast to cross-sectional single-point-in-time surveys. The survey tracked a core group of panel participants throughout the duration of the study, supplemented by replacement participants as needed to maintain a statistically valid and representative sample.
Information gained from the panel survey has assisted in long range transportation forecasting and analysis used to inform decisions regarding highway and road construction, transit development, as well as carpooling and parking policies. The data has also supported special studies, including an analysis of the travel behavior of baby boomers.
