Puget Sound Regional Council

The following tables provide traffic volume counts at selected screenline and Congestion Management Process (CMP) locations within the Puget Sound region. Data was collected in 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006 and constitutes 24-hour tube-count bi-directional volume data summarized by hourly and daily totals and by 15 minute/hr/day totals with peak period analysis. In addition, truck classification data was also collected in 2006 and 2004 which is summarized in hourly totals. Descriptions and maps of screenline and CMP locations are provided in links below.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a Congestion Management Process?
    • A Congestion Management Process (CMP) provides information on transportation system performance and strategies to alleviate congestion and enhance mobility. More information regarding CMP can be found in the CMP Publications. *NOTE: The CMP was formerly known as the Congestion Management System (CMS) referred to in the performance report and locations.
  • What are screenlines?
    • A screenline is a line drawn between two areas of the transportation model’s study area where traffic movement (volume) data can be collected on the roads that cross the screenline.
  • How does PSRC use the traffic count data?
    • The data were collected to provide a consistent set of data for calibration of the PSRC travel demand model base year and for the monitoring of a number of highway facilities for the Congestion Management Process.
