The Rural Town Centers and Corridors (RTCC) program was created in 2003 to assist rural communities in implementing town center and corridor improvements. The program is funded through a set-aside as part of PSRC’s project selection process for its Federal Highway Administration funds. Competitive project selection processes have been conducted since 2005. In 2012, the funding amount for the program increased from $2 million to $3 million.

In July 2015, PSRC’s Executive Board approved five projects to receive the available funding set-aside as part of PSRC’s 2014 project selection process, along with a contingency list should additional funds become available prior to the next project selection process. Assuming that a set-aside for this program continues in the future, the next process would be conducted in 2017.
