Puget Sound Regional Council

The Puget Sound Regional Council created the Rural Town Centers and Corridors program to recognize and support the region’s rural areas, which provide much of the natural resources, agriculture, open space and recreation, and contribute to the success of the region’s long-range growth, economic and transportation strategy, VISION 2040. Since 2004, PSRC funds have been set aside for the Rural Town Centers and Corridors Program to provide modest financial incentives and support for cooperative efforts to develop rural town center and corridor projects. As part of the 2012 project selection process for the distribution of PSRC’s federal funds, $3 million was set aside for the 2013 program. In September 2013, PSRC’s Executive Board approved five projects to receive the available funds, along with a contingency list of projects should additional funds become available.
