Puget Sound Regional Council

In September 2011, the Regional Council’s Executive Board adopted updated Designation Procedures. The procedures have been updated to:

  • Reflect the center-related provisions and expectations in VISION 2040.
  • Provide the best information to PSRC decision-makers when they review applications for new centers.
  • Ensure consistency with PSRC’s plan review process.
  • Assist countywide groups and local jurisdictions to be more effective in their implementation of the region’s growth and transportation strategy.

The Designation Procedures provide the Growth Management Policy Board and Executive Board with a tool to review and act on the designation of proposed new regional growth and manufacturing industrial centers. Regional designation is made at the discretion of the Executive Board after considering the recommendation of the Growth Management Policy Board, a presentation by the jurisdiction, and a report from PSRC staff.
