Destination 2030 Moving Forward
Hundreds of Destination 2030 projects are complete or in progress.
Since 2001, we have invested over $3.5 billion and completed 140
major projects. Funding is now in place for nearly $7.6 billion worth of
additional projects in the four county region.
Desination 2030 has undergone a limited scope update for 2007, satisfying new requirements
and setting the stage for a more extensive plan update in 2010.
The updated D2030 document and the track changes version of the updated paper can be linked to below.

- Washington State's Strategic Highway Safety Plan: Target Zero 2007
The six primary areas being updated in 2007
are described below in each of the background papers:
- Special Needs Transportation
PSRC has helped develop a coordinated public transit-human services plan to meet the growing demand for special needs transportation.
The plan will be used to prioritize projects using three sources of federal funding.
- Security
PSRC is recommending a framework for security issues to
keep people and the transportation system secure in the event of a natural disaster or other emergency.
- Safety
PSRC is recommending a regional approach for implementing Target Zero, the state highway safety plan,
which aims to eliminate all traffic fatalities and disabling injuries by 2030.
- Operations, System and Congestion Management
PSRC will supplement existing strategies for managing and
monitoring congestion to improve traffic flow and better prioritize projects.
- Environmental Mitigation
PSRC will outline the best practices of environmental mitigation for transportation projects.
- Commute Trip Reduction
PSRC will incorporate changes to the state Commute Trip Reduction law,
to help reduce commute congestion in the urban growth area and on state highways.
