Commissioner Bob Edwards |
On February 28, 2002, the Executive Board of the Puget Sound Regional Council approved a supplemental budget and work program for fiscal years 2002-2003, and authorized submittal of the budget to the General Assembly for action on March 21, 2002.
The supplemental budget and work program represents an adjustment to the biennial budget that was adopted unanimously by the Regional Council's General Assembly last March. The supplemental budget reflects an increase of $1,109,007, representing new federal grants, additional carryover grants, and a slight increase in speculative federal grants. The supplemental budget contains no increase in local dues paid by members. The major activities in the budget and work program build on and enhance on-going regional growth management and transportation planning work. The work program focuses on meeting agency mandates, including implementing the Destination 2030 transportation plan and continuing to provide essential services to members. The FY 2002-2003 supplemental budget will be mailed to all members the week of March 4. For more information or to request a copy of the budget, contact Mark Gulbranson, (206) 464-7524.The Executive Board honored Councilmember Richard McIver for his service as Chair of the Transportation Policy Board from 1998-2001. The Executive Board heard an update on the status of transportation legislation. Regional Council staff have been actively tracking developments in the Legislature related to transportation and provide regular updates to the Executive Board. The two projects are SR 900, Major Widening, Tibbetts Creek to I-90, and SR 519, Kingdome Area Intermodal Access Project. The Board gave conditional approval to a third project -- SR 305 HOV Widening, Poulsbo to Bond Road -- pending completion of final environmental documentation.
