The Executive Board approved for public release the preferred growth alternative for the VISION 2020 update as well as the Multicounty Planning Policies. Members of the Growth Management Policy Board designed the preferred growth alternative as an ambitious, but achievable growth strategy to support a high quality of life in the region for the long term. Combining the best elements of four potential growth scenarios, the preferred alternative was found to perform well in terms of jobs/housing balance, access to transit, air quality, and other measures. Staff will develop a Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement (SDEIS) for public review this summer. This SDEIS will contain the full analysis of the preferred growth alternative alongside the other four growth alternatives. For more information, contact Norman Abbott at 206-464-7134, nabbott@psrc.org. The Executive Board recommended General Assembly approval of PSRC's draft budget and work program for FY 2008-2009. The agency's work will focus on meeting mandates, carrying out regional plans for transportation, economic development and growth management, and continuing to provide essential services to members. The General Assembly will take action on the budget on April 5, 2007. For more information, contact Diana Lauderbach at 206-464-5416, dlauderbach@psrc.org. The Executive Board authorized a contract for PSRC to develop an Airport Compatible Land Use Program. PSRC will work with a consulting firm to establish a working group on the topic, build a development database, and evaluate existing comprehensive plans. These study efforts will help PSRC develop guidelines and revise its own programs, such as policy and plan review, for implementation measures. The Federal Aviation Administration is providing 95 percent of the funding for this effort. For more information, contact Stephen Kiehl at 206-464-6175 or skiehl@psrc.org. The Executive Board approved the City of Snohomish's 2005 comprehensive plan update. The board found that the city's plan update conforms to the Growth Management Act and is consistent with the Destination 2030 regional transportation plan.
