  • Transportation governance
  • State tolling policy
  • Ferry funding
  • Climate change
  • Incentives for transportation demand management

The Transportation Policy Board unanimously recommended that the Executive Board expand the composition of the policy board to provide Kitsap County with its own voting seat.

The Executive Board will consider the recommendation at its meeting on January 24. A change to policy board composition requires a two-thirds majority vote by the Executive Board. Adding a separate seat for Kitsap County on the Growth Management Policy Board and Economic Development District Board was also unanimously recommended by those bodies.

In other business, the Transportation Policy Board:

  • Heard a briefing on the status of the Destination 2030 update, which is now in a scoping phase designed to identify the issues that need to be addressed in the plan update.
  • Recommended that the Executive Board certify the City of Monroe's 2007 Transportation Plan.

The Growth Management Policy Board reviewed proposed edits to VISION 2040 and transcripts of three public hearings conducted in December.

Public hearings on VISION 2040 were held in Auburn, Edmonds and Port Orchard to receive public testimony on the proposed revisions to VISION 2040, the draft regional growth management, environmental, economic and transportation strategy being considered by the Growth Management Policy Board.

The proposed revisions were shown in a "strike-through" working draft of VISION 2040, which was reviewed in detail by the policy board members. Later this month, the board is scheduled to continue its review and take action to recommend a final VISION 2040, incorporating all approved revisions, for Executive Board action in March.
