PSRC is helping the region’s airports get ready for emerging NextGen aviation technology. NextGen represents an evolution from a ground-based system of air traffic control to a satellite-based system of air traffic management. Implementing NextGen technologies will reduce delays and lower emissions, fuel consumption, and noise.

In 2014, PSRC will begin a NextGen Airspace Study, which builds on the Phase I study. The draft scope is available here.

In May 2013, PSRC completed the Phase 1 Study: Preparing the Region’s Airports for NextGen Technologies

PSRC’s NextGen project is funded by the Federal Aviation Administration. FAA NextGen logo
