Emergency Meeting on $538 million in CARES Act funding for transit agencies

SEATTLE - The Puget Sound Regional Council’s Executive Board will hold an emergency meeting on April 16 to distribute $538 million in CARES Act Funding to the region’s transit agencies.  This funding is targeted to address impacts from the COVID-19 crisis and better enable recovery across the region.

The funding is included in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.  The CARES Act funds are intended for COVID-19 related operating costs and are not required to be included in the region's Transportation Improvement Program.

PSRC has been working closely with the region’s transit agencies on the distribution methodology for the CARES Act funding. The region’s transit agencies are recommending the following distributions, based on the Federal Transit Administration’s apportionment formula:

The Executive Board meeting will be held remotely at 10 am on Thursday, April 16, 2020. No in person attendance is allowed due to Governor Inslee's Stay Home, Stay Healthy emergency proclamation.

Members of the public may submit public comment via email to srogers@psrc.org up to one hour before the meeting and comment will be provided to Board members electronically during the meeting. Comments received after that deadline will be provided to Board members after the meeting.

PSRC develops policies and coordinates decisions about regional growth, transportation and economic development planning within King, Pierce, Snohomish and Kitsap counties. The Council is composed of over 80 jurisdictions, including all four counties, cities and towns, ports, state and local transportation agencies and Tribal governments within the region.

This public notice will satisfy the FTA's Program of Projects requirements.
