The region is preparing to add more people and jobs in the coming decades. By 2050, the region's population will reach 5.8 million people.

VISION 2050 is the long-range plan for how and where the region's growth will occur. You are invited to review the draft VISION 2050 plan through this online open house and share your thoughts with us. Your feedback will be used in preparing the final plan in fall 2019. The public comment period will last from July 19, 2019 - September 16, 2019. The Growth Management Policy Board will hold a public hearing at their September 5, 2019 meeting.

PSRC & VISION 2050

Map showing PSRC region.The Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) is the regional planning organization for the four-county central Puget Sound region (King, Pierce, Snohomish and Kitsap counties).

VISION 2050 is the long-range growth management, transportation, and economic development strategy for the region. It acknowledges the challenges and opportunities facing the region and identifies policies and actions to promote livable, healthy communities while continuing to protect the natural resources that make the region unique. 

PSRC began updating the regional plan in early 2018. Public engagement has been a critical part of the process.

 

We want to hear from you!

By 2050, the region's population will reach 5.8 million people. VISION 2050 will guide the region and local jurisdictions on how to prepare for that growth.

The region's elected leadership wants to hear from you! We invite you to provide comments as PSRC works to finalize VISION 2050.

Next Steps

Following the 60-day public comment period, the Growth Management Policy Board will review all comments received and discuss additional revisions to the plan, including changes to goals, policies, actions, and the Regional Growth Strategy. The Growth Management Policy Board will finalize a recommended VISION 2050 plan for the Executive Board. The Executive Board will review the plan and make a recommendation to the General Assembly. The General Assembly will meet in spring 2020 to adopt VISION 2050.

Stay Involved

The development of VISION 2050 is an ongoing process. Following this 60-day public comment period, the Growth Management Policy Board and other PSRC boards and committees will review all of the public comments received and finalize VISION 2050 in anticipation of a spring 2020 adoption.
