SEATTLE – Mercy Housing Northwest and Sound Transit have won a 2018 VISION 2040 Award from the Puget Sound Regional Council for Mercy Othello Plaza. The awards recognize innovative projects and programs that help ensure a sustainable future as the region grows.

"Mercy Othello Plaza is a mixed-use transit-oriented development with affordable housing for families on the site of the Othello Link light rail station with onsite social services provided in partnership with UW Bothell Nursing and several other community organizations," said Josh Brown, Executive Director of PSRC. "What a great combination of amenities for the residents of Othello Plaza and the surrounding neighborhood."

The award will be presented at the Sound Transit Board of Director's Meeting on September 27, 2018.

Mercy Othello Plaza provides 108 energy-efficient affordable housing units for individuals and families earning $18,000 to $55,000 a year. Sixty percent of the apartments offer two or three bedrooms to accommodate families. The building includes a 2,000 square foot community center for resident services and 7,500 square feet of office space for Mercy Housing Northwest headquarters. The development opened in Summer 2017.
