Search engine tips

Sometimes our search engine needs a little help. Use the tips below to get the results you want.

Tip 1: Wrap phrases in quotation marks

Too many search results? The simplest and most effective way to search for something specific is to use quotation marks around a phrase or name. This will tell the search engine to only search for those exact words in that exact order.

Tip 2: Refine search results with filters

Still can't find what you're looking for? Try using our search filters. Search results can be filtered by TopicFile extension and Type of webpage.

If you're looking for Data or Planning Resource collections, sort search results using the filters Topic > Data and Type > Data & planning page. You'll know it worked when you see the briefcase icon next to the individual search results.

Tip 3: Use the Meetings tab to search for meetings

Looking for a meeting? No need to type the name of the policy board or committee in the search box. Instead, click the Meetings tab below the search box, then use the Committee or Date filters to sort results by policy board or committee, or date the meeting was held.
