Board to focus on financial strategy for transportation plan

Board engagement session on June 8

The Transportation Policy Board will take a look at a proposed financial blueprint for the Transportation 2040 plan update this week.

The financial strategy describes how the region will pay for 30 years’ worth of planned transportation investments.

Preliminary data shows a $33 billion local funding gap for city, county and local transit agency investments. That is about two thirds of the total funding gap for the plan.

Since November 2016, a Finance Working Group made up of Transportation Policy Board and other PSRC board and committee members has met monthly to consider assumptions and develop recommendations for a revised financial strategy.

At the June 8 meeting, preliminary recommendations from the working group will be presented to the board for discussion. Board members will break into small groups to review the financial strategy and provide guidance and feedback.
