Bremerton’s second fast ferry debuts

Two boat service officially begins

Kitsap Transit has added a second boat to its Bremerton route just as the fast ferry service to Seattle nears the end of its third year of operations.

Commuters will have the opportunity to make the 30-minute crossing on five round trips each morning accompanied by seven evening roundtrips.

The trips currently taking reservations for the first 80 seats will continue to do so, but the additional runs will be first come, first served.

The Bremerton route will be served by two newer boats, the Reliance and Lady Swift, which use a wet exhaust system that measurably reduces the noise emitted as they travel on the water. Both boats offer 118 seats.

Kitsap Transit ran a month long test of the new two boat schedule last fall and found no erosion impacts on the beaches of Rich Passage.

The new service is a part of the original package passed by Kitsap voters in 2016.
