Centers Framework Update

On tap for approval

Centers play a big role in how the region accommodates growth. The region’s centers framework defines the types of central places that are the focus of growth, planning, and investment. The Growth Management Policy Board has been guiding a year long effort to evaluate the centers framework and recommend changes to recognize different scales of centers using consistent designation criteria and procedures. That work is scheduled to be approved by the Executive Board at its upcoming meeting.

The board will also review a summary of the more than 800 individual comments on the draft Regional Transportation Plan as well as draft responses to the comments. The comments cover topics including equity, emerging transportation technology, toll and road usage charges, climate change, road capacity and more.

Approval of the routine amendment for the Regional Transportation Improvement Program would mean a big step forward for the passenger only ferries run by Kitsap Transit. The action would add Preliminary Engineering and Construction phases for all three routes: Bremerton, Kingston and Southworth.
