Congratulations, Bainbridge Island!

Sound to Olympics Trail now open

The City of Bainbridge Island celebrated the opening of the "first mile" of its Sound to Olympics Trail in a ribbon cutting ceremony on March 3.

The new trail provides a safe place to walk or bike separate from the high speed State Route 305; beginning at Winslow Way and ending eight-tenths of a mile later at High School Road, connecting to the Ravine Creek bridge.

The city plans to study potential additional segments and connections to improve safety and provide more choices for people using the bustling state route.

PSRC provided $1.6 million in Transportation Alternatives Program funding for the project in 2013.
