Mayor Nancy Backus receives regional leadership award

Honored for collaboration and commitment to public service

Congratulations to Auburn Mayor Nancy Backus on receiving the Senator Scott White Regional Leadership Award!

The award is presented annually at the Seattle Chamber of Commerce’s Regional Leadership Conference, recognizing individuals who build bridges between competing interests, demonstrate a willingness to take on big problems, and move policy issues from discussion to action.

The award was established in 2012 to honor the life and work of the late Senator Scott White, who exemplified a collaborative, servant leadership style.

Mayor Backus serves as the Leadership Board Vice Chair for Greater Seattle Partners, and serves on the Sound Transit Board of Directors, PSRC’s Executive Board and Operations Committee, and many other state, regional and community organizations.

She also has joined King County Executive Dow Constantine and Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan in convening One Table, a regional approach to tackling the issues of homelessness and housing affordability.
