New Equity Advisory Committee seeking members

Help create the Regional Equity Strategy

PSRC is seeking members for its new Equity Advisory Committee to help guide the development of the Regional Equity Strategy.

The Regional Equity Strategy will include data, strategies and best practices that PSRC and its member jurisdictions can put to work to advance racial equity within the central Puget Sound region.

The new 15-member committee will be a working group composed of residents as well as governmental and community-based organizations in the Puget Sound region representing Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) communities and other marginalized groups. It will report directly to the Executive Board.

The region included the development of this committee in VISION 2050 to provide feedback on and help implement the Regional Equity Strategy. It will create a space where the community can collaborate with PSRC staff and elected officials across the region to remove barriers, leverage the full brilliance of BIPOC communities, and improve as a region on multiple fronts.

Members of the committee who are not already being paid by their employers or other organizations for their participation will be compensated $125 per meeting in recognition of their time and expertise in contributing to this important work.

PSRC is accepting applications for committee members through June 28, 2021. Learn more about the committee at a Zoom Q&A session being held on June 1 at 6 pm.

A Call for Applications, Frequently Asked Questions, and other committee materials are all available on the Equity Advisory Committee webpage. These materials are also translated into simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, Somali, Spanish and Vietnamese.
