Nominations open for Governor's 2021 Smart Communities Awards

Opportunity to be recognized for local planning

Governor Inslee has opened the nominations for the 2021 Smart Communities Awards which recognize outstanding work by local governments and their partners on community planning and development.  

The awards have been an annual event since 2006 and focus on how local governments are working to make their communities vibrant and sustainable for economic growth.

Nominations are being accepted through July 27, 2021.  

The awards include a variety of recognitions, including a new Smart Equity and Climate Change Strategies Awards:

Smart Vision Award – for a Comprehensive Plan, Subarea Plan or Countywide Planning Policies. 
Smart Projects Award – for Project implementing a Comprehensive Plan.
Smart Partnership Award – for a Joint Public Project that Implements a Comprehensive Plan.
Smart Housing Strategies Award — for creative Plans, Policies, Programs and/or Actions.
Smart Equity Strategies Award — for Plans, Policies, Programs and/or Actions Addressing Impacts to Community Equity.
Smart Climate Change Strategies Award — for Plans, Policies, Programs and/or Actions Addressing Community Climate Impacts.
