PSRC hosting online Census workshop on June 2

Topics include privacy, data.census.gov, and COVID-19

The Puget Sound Regional Council, in conjunction with the Census Bureau, will conduct the second of two online workshops on June 2, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Registration is required to attend. Sessions will cover:

Differential Privacy and the 2020 Census
The Census Bureau is adopting a new methodology based on differential privacy to protect the confidentiality of 2020 Decennial Census data. This session will explain the reasons for the change, what differential privacy is, and how it may impact your uses of 2020 Census data.

Exploring data.census.gov
Not sure how to start searching for data on data.census.gov, the Census Bureau's new dissemination platform? Join us for a tour of the new site. In this session, you will learn tips and tricks for effective searches as well as how to download, customize, and map data on data.census.gov.

2020 Census:  An update about operations and the partnership program in light of the COVID-19 virus
Representatives from the Census Bureau will provide an update on 2020 Census operations in the state of Washington as a result of the COVID-19 virus.  In addition, we will discuss what the partnership program has been doing to continue throughout the region.  Details about the self-response rates from relevant Puget Sound counties and the state will also be provided.  The session will also describe state-funded outreach in the Puget Sound area.
