Sultan breaks ground on three projects

Pedestrian Bridge, Third Street, Susie’s Trail

On May 9, the City of Sultan celebrated the groundbreaking of three projects, including a Pedestrian Bridge over Sultan River, improvements to its Third Street, and Susie’s Trail that will link Riverpark and Osprey Park.

The Pedestrian Bridge over Sultan River will be located just north of the US 2 bridge with east and west termini connecting to existing roadway shoulders on US 2 and First Street in Downtown Sultan.  PSRC provided $2.5 million in funding for this project.

Third Street improvements include repair and rehabilitation of settlement, water main replacement, ADA ramps, curbs and sidewalks, temporary traffic control, and other work as necessary. The funding of the street improvements is part of a 15-year Water and Sewer bond and $900,000 in funding from the Transportation Improvement Board.

Susie’s Trail will resurface the existing trail top, create new trail sections, and the installation of a premanufactured bridge for wetland crossing.  Susie’s Trail is funded by a Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office Grant valued at $262,000.

Congratulations, Sultan!
