University Place Regional Growth Center

Subarea plan certified

PSRC’s Executive Board certified University Place’s Regional Growth Center Subarea plan in July, which gives the center full designation as a Regional Growth Center.

University Place envisions that its center will continue to transform into a vibrant, walkable regional destination with dense mixed use and transit-oriented development in neighborhoods that offer a variety of housing and employment opportunities, shopping and services, culture, arts, entertainment, and parks.

The 481 acre center includes the Town Center, Northeast and 27th Street business districts. University Place sought Regional Growth Center status and received provisional approval in 2014. The city subsequently developed a subarea plan to support the community vision for the center.

The city has already seen recent development in the center, with more growth on the horizon.

The region now has 29 Regional Growth Centers and 9 Manufacturing Inudstrial Centers
