2 Line Debuts in Downtown Redmond on May 10

Sound Transit will begin light rail service to downtown Redmond this May. The 3.4 mile extension adds two more stations in Redmond, downtown and Marymoor Park, that will connect to the 2 Line that serves Redmond Technology Center through South Bellevue. Trains will run every 10 minutes for 16 hours a day.

“Redmond is thrilled about the opening of the remaining two Link 2 Line stations in our city, which will increase our mobility options and connections in town and throughout the east side,” said Redmond Mayor Angela Birney. “We thank PSRC for its ongoing financial commitment to the vision of a connected east side.”

PSRC contributed $106 Million to the Link 2 Line beginning in 2018 through the most recent project selection cycle in 2024.

Celebrate opening day in downtown Redmond with Sound Transit, Eastrail Partners and Africans on the Eastside from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festivities will include live entertainment, delicious food, and family-friendly activities.

The full 2 Line is expected to open in late 2025 after the completion of the I-90 segment that will add stops on Mercer Island and in Judkins Park while connecting Redmond to downtown Seattle and the 1 Line.
