The Puget Sound Regional Council has developed a summer program for teens who want to learn about urban planning and share ideas about making the Puget Sound region a better place to live.
Summer Planning Academy (SPA) is a free leadership development initiative that encourages high school students to think about how planning can impact their communities and help people lead better lives.
Topics include an introduction to planning, transportation planning, environmental planning, housing and equity. Students will be taught by PSRC staff members and will have the opportunity to hear from industry professionals and elected officials within the region.
Upon successful completion of the academy, participants will receive a $500 scholarship.
The dates of commitment are:
- Session 1: August 7, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Session 2: August 9, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Session 3: August 14, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
