Sound Transit (ST) is opening Pinehurst Station, September 30, making it their first infill station. The new station sits between Northgate and Shoreline South stations and will connect communities in North Seattle to the rest of the region.
In 2016, voters approved the addition of the Pinehurst Station to the Lynnwood Link Extension and construction began in fall 2023. The additional stop in North Seattle will facilitate approximately 2,600-4,200 daily boardings.
Pinehurst Station’s design incorporates native landscaping, stormwater retention features and boulders that reflect the nearby Thornton Creek. At the north and south lobbies, richly colored, porcelain enamel panels wrap around the entrances, and a 100-foot-long mural of porcelain tiles is featured in the center of the station, all created by Seattle-based artist Romson Bustillo.
To celebrate the new station, Sound Transit and community partners are hosting an opening day event featuring live music, an interactive activity with Romson Bustillo, food and more. The ST LifeSTyle team will also be giving away prizes from the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Theatre Group, Dick’s Drive-In and more!
