SEATTLE - The Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) is encouraging people to comment on three projects new to the Regional Transportation Improvement Program that are recommended to receive a total of $2,368,726 in PSRC’s Federal Transit Administration funds.
The public comment period will run from July 3, 2025 through July 24, 2025. PSRC’s Executive Board is scheduled to approve these projects on July 24.
Sound Transit is recommended to receive $242,874 for the “Reduce Transit Worker Assault Risk” project, to include better visibility at risk areas, equipment upgrades, and training of at-risk transit workers.
Pierce Transit is recommended to receive $932,852 for the “System-Wide ADA Braille Signage Improvements” project to purchase and install ADA braille and tactile raised lettering signage for approximately 1,900 bus stops and 300 shuttle boarding zones.
Pierce Transit is also recommended to receive $1,193,000 for the “Bus Stop Accessibility Improvements” project to replace or construct approximately 40 bus shelter pads to address ADA accessibility requirements at or near bus stop locations. This project represents the first two years of a five-year project to replace or construct an estimated 100 bus shelter pads by 2030.
