Shailen Bhatt to Speak at General Assembly on May 22

Registration is now open for the annual meeting of the Puget Sound Regional Council General Assembly on May 22. 

Shailen Bhatt, former head of the Federal Highways Administration, will lead a discussion on Regional Roadway Safety at the meeting. Mr. Bhatt has worked on every mode of transportation, including transit, aviation, and active transportation and is a recognized global voice for innovation in transportation.  During his tenure at FHWA, Mr. Bhatt was responsible for awarding over $48 million in Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) planning, demonstration and implementation grants.  

The General Assembly will meet at the Seattle Convention Center Summit Building from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to vote on new officers, the biennial budget and work program and the new Regional Safety Action Plan.

The General Assembly includes all mayors, county executives, commissioners, and councilmembers of PSRC member jurisdictions. Members include more than 100 entities, including King, Kitsap, Pierce, and Snohomish counties, as well as cities, towns, ports, state and local transportation agencies and Tribal governments within the region.
