Sound Transit’s 1 line is expanding. On Friday, August 30, four new stations will be open to transit riders from Shoreline to Lynnwood.
The extension covers 8.5 miles between King County and Snohomish County and will serve transit riders every 10 minutes. The new stations are Shoreline South/148th Station, Shoreline North/185th Station, Mountlake Terrace Station and Lynnwood City center.
To celebrate the 1 Line extension to Lynwood, Sound Transit is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a night market on Friday, August 30, 2024.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony begins at 11 a.m. and will feature a host of speakers who have worked on this momentous project. The speakers will cut the ribbon at about 12:30 p.m., and attendees are invited to explore the new transit stations and the 1 Line Extension for the first time.
At 4 p.m., the 1 Line Night Market will start with food, music, giveaways and performances. There will be exciting activities at each station, so hop off the train and enjoy the celebration.
PSRC will be at the Lynwood City Center Station in the Future Pavilion Area near 200th St SW and 44th Ave W. Staff will be talking with community members about how we can take action to address the rise in roadway deaths and serious injuries though a Regional Safety Action Plan.
Attendees also have the chance to play Discover. Stamp. Win!, with chances to win exciting prizes, like Seattle Storm tickets or one year of free transit. The night market ends at 8 p.m., so don’t miss out on this once-in-a lifetime event!
