All PSRC Board members invited to attend June 23
PSRC’s Executive Board will host a hybrid joint board session on implicit bias on June 23 from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM.
Members of the Central Puget Sound Economic Development District Board, Growth Management Policy Board, and Transportation Policy Board are all invited to attend.
The workshop will include an interactive presentation designed to develop a shared understanding of implicit bias and how it functions. Board members will have the opportunity to explore strategies to reduce the impact of implicit bias in breakout sessions.
The goal of this work is to inform the Regional Equity Strategy, make PSRC's work more equitable moving forward, and build on the foundation set in the joint board workshop on racial equity held in July 2021.
PSRC’s Program Manager for Equity Policy and Initiatives, Charles Patton PhD, will lead the event. It will include both Zoom and in-person options and be held at PSRC.
This will be the first in a four-part series on racial equity. The next session is planned for late September. Future topics include institutional/structural racism, how other MPOs have incorporated equity into their work, and how to have effective conversations about racial equity.
