Freight is a vital part of our multimodal transportation system and integral to the region’s economy.
The freight transportation system is an interconnected network of highways and streets, railways, deep water ports and waterways, and airports. The Ports of Seattle and Tacoma together rank among the top 10 busiest ports in the US.
The Regional Transportation Plan identifies the needs and key challenges for the freight system into the future, as well as opportunities and plans for improvements.
