The U.S. Department of Transportation has announced the availability of $1.5 billion in funding via the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) discretionary grant program.
"The RAISE program helps communities large and small fix and modernize their infrastructure,” said Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “This year, thanks to the President’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we can support more projects than ever, and help make our transportation system safer, more accessible, and more sustainable for people across the country.”
This program is the first to accept applications through President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. In 2022, $1.5 billion is available, which is a 50 percent increase in funding over last year.
Projects selected for RAISE grants are selected and reviewed for merit, using criteria that looks at environmental sustainability, safety, economic competitiveness, quality of life, state of good repair, etc.
The deadline to apply is April 14, 2022 at 5 p.m. Find out more. Selected projects will be announced no later than August 12, 2022.
