What is the Regional Transportation Plan?
The Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) acts as a blueprint for the central Puget Sound’s future transportation network. The goal of the plan is to improve mobility throughout the region and ensure that all people equitably benefit from the region’s transportation system.
Staff and elected officials from our cities, counties, transit agencies, and other organizations use the plan to help make decisions about the transportation network, from transit service to new sidewalks and safer roadways. A new plan is developed every four years per federal and state requirements.
PSRC has released the draft plan for public comment! You can review the plan, detailed analyses and background information on the Draft Regional Transportation Plan page.
How was the plan developed?
The plan was developed in partnership with the public, advocacy groups, Tribes, state and local governments, transit agencies, and ports. PSRC staff collected feedback at board and committee meetings, community meetings, open houses, focus group interviews, and surveys to prepare the draft plan.
The Transportation Policy Board reviewed the draft plan at their meeting on December 11, 2025 and directed staff to release the plan for public comment. PSRC is collecting feedback on the plan from December 15, 2025 to February 2, 2026. The board will review comments and refine the draft plan before recommending the plan for approval by PSRC's General Assembly. The General Assembly is expected to adopt the plan at their meeting in May 2026.
